Today:
For some reason I haven't been sleeping very well lately, so I stayed in bed a while longer than the rest today. Before I got up, I made plans for the morning (you know that feeling when you really should sleep more, but can't because you start thinking about the day ahead, and there's so much you want to do? I get that a lot), and the plans were simple: make ice cream and bake buns. And that's exactly what we did! Mr. Payne was away on a climbing job, so it was me and the kiddos. Ronja had Falk on her back in the Ergobaby, and I had Freja on mine in the mei tai (yes Freja is big but she still loves being carried on my back, and it calms her down, it's good for her), and we ruled the kitchen while listening to my favorite radio show, Popquiz. Ronja is impressed every time I get the answers right, so it's great for my self-esteem, haha!
Then Mr. Payne came home and we had fresh buns for lunch, before packing up and heading out. There were blueberries to be picked! And lordy lord, the amounts of them. We went crazy! You could literally see the berries shining in my husband's eyes while he was racing around in the woods trying to gather as many as he could. And that was a lot! We are buying a new huge chest freezer on Monday just to fit all the berries in (ok, you get my point).
Although we were caught in the rain and the girls had a whining session each (which is rare when we're in the forest, actually), it was a lovely trip. The fridge is full of gold and we have berries to last us a long time.
Oh, and the blueberry ice cream will be ready tomorrow but I've already sneakily tasted it, and it was YUMMY.
Happy Saturday to all!
